
Sharon Kung
Sharon Kung is a Hong Kong-trained dance artist and educator whose career bridges Hong Kong and the international dance field. She received her early ballet training at the Jean M. Wong School of Ballet in Hong Kong, completing the Royal Academy of Dance grade and vocational examinations with distinction, before graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, Irvine with a BFA in Dance Performance and a BA in Economics. Her professional performance experience includes Dance Theatre of San Francisco, Oakland Ballet Company, Thodos Dance Chicago, Ziru Dance, KAMBARA+, and freelance projects in Europe and Morocco, giving her a wide-ranging perspective across both classical and contemporary repertory, including works by George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, and Bob Fosse. Alongside performance, her work hasincluded coaching dancers, staging repertoire, leading rehearsal processes, and developing original and ensemble work, supported by experience in teaching, faculty work, and rehearsal direction. She has also coached students for competitions including Youth America Grand Prix, The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition (formerly the Genée Awards), and ADCIBC (Youth International Ballet Competition), with former students going on to leading university dance programs in the United States. As a guest teacher and choreographer in both the San Francisco Bay Area and Hong Kong, and as a fluent Cantonese and English speaker, Sharon brings both international breadth and local accessibility, with a practice grounded in technical clarity, musicality, artistry, and the development of thoughtful, versatile young dancers.
