Deeply rooted in traditional ballet technique, our performances blend ballet and neo-classical dance, sometimes edging on contemporary. Using the traditional art form, we create performances that are exciting for both audiences and artists.

Every FoMa production will involve Hong Kong-based musicians (live or recorded), composers, and designers. We believe ballet is strongest when it becomes a canvas for many artistic voices — not just dancers.

Our Goals

1. Create professional opportunities for emerging Hong Kong ballet and neo-classical dancers, as well as for Hong Kong musicians, composers, costume designers, set builders, lighting and sound artists — fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration as a core company value.

2. Bring a new ballet identity to Hong Kong audiences and grow the dance and art scene in the city.

3. Represent Hong Kong overseas by touring across Asia, and further when opportunity arises.

FoMa Dance Company is a Hong Kong-based, small-scale ballet and neo-classical ensemble. Named after the Fire Horse of the Chinese zodiac — a symbol of passion, resilience, and restless energy — the company will be home to six to eight young professional dancers and a strong artistic team.

FoMa will serve as a launching platform for emerging Hong Kong talent, commissioning and producing original neo-classical works in cross-collaboration with artists from various backgrounds (music, set design, costumes), and touring internationally to represent the city's artistic voice.
